Delbarton went toe-to-toe with the nation's best on one of high school lacrosse's biggest stages.
Making the trip to South Bend for the 2026 Golden Domer Classic at the University of Notre Dame, the Green Wave delivered a statement weekend—earning a gritty win over St. Ignatius (CA) before battling top-ranked Culver Academy (IN) down to the wire in a narrow 11–9 defeat.
Delbarton 9, St. Ignatius 7
Delbarton opened the weekend with a resilient performance, showing composure to take down St. Ignatius.
The Green Wave set the tone early, jumping out to a 2–0 lead after the first quarter and extending it to 5–2 at halftime. But St. Ignatius responded, rallying to even the score at 6–6 by the end of the third, setting up a tense final quarter.
Delbarton answered when it mattered most.
Goals down the stretch pushed the Green Wave back in front, including a clutch strike to make it 8–6 with 5:30 remaining. After St. Ignatius cut it to 8–7 with under a minute to play—and with Delbarton forced to defend a man-down situation—the Green Wave delivered the knockout blow. A man-down goal with 28 seconds left sealed the 9–7 victory in dramatic fashion.
Chase Houser led the offense with three goals, while Max Holda added two. Brandon Fodor orchestrated the attack with three assists, and Pierce Bolger contributed a goal and an assist. In goal, Matty McGinty stood tall with 13 saves to anchor the win.
Culver Academy 11, Delbarton 9
On Sunday, Delbarton faced its toughest test yet against Culver Academy, the No. 1 team in the nation—and nearly pulled off the upset.
After falling behind 6–2 late in the first half, the Green Wave refused to fold. Delbarton surged back with three straight goals to cut the deficit to 6–5 at halftime, then continued to trade blows throughout a tightly contested second half.
The Green Wave tied the game at 6–6 midway through the third and again at 7–7 before Culver edged ahead 8–7 heading into the fourth. With just over 11 minutes remaining, Delbarton knotted it once more at 8–8, setting up a dramatic finish.
But Culver responded with three consecutive goals to take control late. Delbarton added one in the final minute, but the comeback fell just short in an 11–9 loss.
Jack Sheridan led the scoring with three goals, while Brody Cozic added two. Chase Houser (1 goal, 2 assists) and Brandon Fodor (four assists) helped drive the offense, and Kane Quenault dominated at the faceoff X, winning 10-of-11 draws. McGinty recorded 10 saves against one of the nation's most potent attacks.
