Delbarton's home opener on April 6 had a familiar feel — a close game early before the Green Wave offense exploded late in a 14-4 win over Montville.
The Green Wave jumped out in front with two runs in the first and added another in the third, but Montville answered with a three-run third to briefly tighten the game. From there, Delbarton took full control, scoring in four straight innings — including a four-run fourth, three in the fifth, and four more in the sixth — to pull away.
At the plate, Delbarton continued to showcase its depth. Finnian O'Loughlin led the way with three hits and two RBI, while Lorenzo Maselli added two hits, including a double, and scored twice. Danny Haggard stayed hot with a pair of hits and two runs scored, and Curt Friedrich reached base four times, collecting two hits and two walks while driving in a run.
Matt Tafuri set the tone at the top of the lineup despite just one official at-bat, scoring twice, drawing two walks, stealing two bases, and driving in a run with a sacrifice fly. Dylan Temple also worked two walks and scored twice, contributing to a patient approach that saw Delbarton draw eight walks overall.
On the mound, the Green Wave used a staff effort. Parker Klug started and battled through two innings, while John Fedun provided a strong middle relief outing, allowing just one hit over three innings with five strikeouts. Noah Morales closed the door with a clean inning to finish it off.
Delbarton finished with 14 runs on 13 hits, continuing its offensive surge and improving to 4-2 on the season with an impressive showing in its home debut.
