Delbarton Lacrosse continued its road trip Saturday and delivered one of its most impressive wins of the season, knocking off St. Anthony's (NY), 9–7, in a battle between two nationally respected programs.
The Green Wave (6-1) set the tone early and never trailed, using a balanced offensive attack and timely saves by Matty McGinty to secure the signature victory. Delbarton led 2–1 after the first quarter and extended the advantage to 5–2 at halftime behind a composed and efficient offensive effort.
Coming out of the break, Delbarton maintained control. The Green Wave matched St. Anthony's with three goals in the third quarter to carry an 8–5 lead into the final quarter. Despite a late push from the Friars, Delbarton's defense closed the door in the fourth to earn the two-goal win.
Offensively, the scoring was spread across the lineup. Pierce Bolger, Chase Houser, and Jack Sheridan each finished with two goals, leading a group of six different goal scorers. Max Holda added a goal and an assist, while Matthew Good and Brandon Fodor each found the back of the net.
In the cage, Matty McGinty came up big when it mattered most, turning aside 11 shots to anchor the defensive effort against a St. Anthony's attack that's ranked as one of the tops in the country.
At the faceoff X, Delbarton battled throughout the afternoon, with Christian Troczynski, Kane Quenault, and Jesse DeNegri battled to give Delbarton key possessions.
The win marks another major early-season statement for Delbarton, proving its ability to go on the road and take down one of the top programs in the country.
