Students, alumni, families and friends enjoyed a perfect fall afternoon of food, fun and football at Homecoming 2021!
 

After postponing Homecoming in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Delbarton community was ready to celebrate this year. With festivities at every turn, Delbarton welcomed back alumni from across the ages on Saturday, October 9. Thank you to all who joined us for the alumni golf outing, the Hall of Honor Dinner, Alumni Soccer game and Homecoming Day 2021.  As the rain held off for most of the day, Delbarton's campus was filled with students, alumni, families and friends who enjoyed grazing on picnic fare provided by overflowing food tents, perused the many items for sale at the Delbarton Shop and, up top, the Alumni Association provided a delicious catered lunch. After a dramatic run onto the field led by the always enthusiastic Green Wave Fan Zone, the crowd settled in to watch the Green Wave Varsity Football give their all in competing against Don Bosco Prep.

On Saturday, October 9, the Green Wave Varsity football team hosted rival Don Bosco Prep in the 2021 Homecoming game.  While the end score was not in Delbarton's favor, the fans had a great time watching the Green Wave battle all afternoon, and the pit was alive and well, packed with students of all ages!  Delbarton dropped the contest 31-10, but fought hard all game against a very talented Ironmen squad.  

Quarterback Robert Russo was 14/23 for 138 yards.  Delbarton opened the scoring on its first drive, when Russo threw his only touchdown of the game, hitting Dylan Hakes for a 7-0 lead. On the ground, Aidan Papantonis led Delbarton with 18 yards, while David Link led receivers with 60 yards.  Hakes had 33 yards receiving and Sean McCarthy had 24.  

Defensively, Delbarton got to the quarterback with 5 sacks by Jake Checchio, Jack Sharma, Matt Gemma, Pat Caughey and Nigel McSween.  Gemma and Caughey led all defensive players with 10 total tackles, while Gemma had three tackles for a loss.  

After the game, our alums and families partied in the Garden while more experienced classes jammed Old Main as we snapped classic Homecoming class photos.

Thank you to all who attended Homecoming 2021! Delbarton football returns this Saturday to Regan Stadium, hosting rival Seton Hall Prep at 1:00pm. Go Green Wave!
