A week after earning its first victory of the season, Delbarton hit the road Friday night, heading to Paramus for a showdown under the lights against Paramus Catholic. The Green Wave used a big second quarter to put Paramus Catholic away early, rolling to a 49-10 victory.
Delbarton scored five rushing touchdowns on Friday night, featuring two
Ryan Trafford TD runs and two QB TD runs, one each for Rob Russo and
Christian Zebrowski.
After trailing 3-0 early in the first quarter, Delbarton's
Ryan Trafford scored his first of two touchdowns, taking a 21-yard rush to the house for a 7-0 lead. The second quarter would be all Green Wave, as Delbarton outscored Paramus Catholic 21-0 in the quarter.
Sean McCarthy scored off a pass from Rob Russo, then Phillip Folmar followed with a two-yard TD run for a 21-3 lead. Trafford would score once again on the ground, giving Delbarton a 28-3 hafltime lead with a 7-yard touchdown run.
Paramus Catholic would respond to open the second half, bringing the lead to 28-10, but Rob Russo was agile outside the pocket all game long, taking it to the house for a 16-yard touchdown run, extending the lead to 35-10.
Brock Dandridge would add to the lead later in the third quarter, with a 27-yard touchdown run, giving Delbarton a 42-10 third quarter lead.
Christian Zebrowski would finish off the scoring for Delbarton in the fourth quarter, scoring a 23-yard touchdown for a final 49-10 score.
Russo finsihed 12/18, 110 yards and a touchdown. Trafford had 50 yards rushing and 2 TD's, while Dandridge finished with 42 yards on the ground and Russo had 36 yards rushing on four carries. The Green Wave defense was on all-game long, finishing with two QB sacks and nine tackles for a loss. The secondary also helped control possession with three interceptions, one each by
Jack Eisenhardt,
Bo Popham and
Kyle Checchio.
Nigel McSween led all defense with nine total tackles in the win.
Delbarton now turns its attention to Pope John for Saturday's big homecoming game against the Lions. Kick off is set for 1pm from Regan Stadium!
