Delbarton Football Defeats Paramus Catholic 45-0

The Green Wave Varsity Football team won its fourth game of the season Saturday, defeating Paramus Catholic 45-0, putting the Green Wave at a tie in the SFC standings.  The offense and defense dominated all afternoon, out-rushing the Paladins 254-10 on the ground in the victory at Regan Stadium.

Delbarton opened the first quarter on defense, causing a punt with great field position for its first offensive drive.  A big Ryan Trafford '24 (Navy) run led to a Philip Folmar '25 rushing touchdown from a yard out for the 7-0 lead.  Leading by the 7-0 score after the first quarter, the Green Wave broke out in the second quarter.  Ryan Trafford would punch one in from a yard out to make it 14-0, then it was Brock Dandridge's turn to find the end zone with the running back taking it in from 27 yards out for the 21-0 lead.  Trafford would get his second touchdown late in the first half, setting up Delbarton with the 28-0 lead.

Making his return to the lineup, John Riley '24's presence was immediately known, intercepting a pass to set up Delbarton for a long 41-yard field goal attempt before the end of the half for William Kramer, who nailed the kick from 41-yards out for the 31-0 halftime lead.

Senior QB Christian Zebrowski '24 didn't have to throw many times on Saturday, but when he did, he made it count.  Opening the 3rd quarter, Zebrowski hit Folmar on a screen pass, and Folmar did the rest, outrunning 5 defenders on the way to the end zone for a 38-0 lead.  With many of the starters resting, running back Matthew Tafuri '26 once again took advantage of his opportunity, scoring a 66 yard rushing touchdown in the final seconds of the fourth quarter for the 45-0 final score.

In the win, Zebo went 6/9 for 123 yards and a TD.  The three-headed monster running game totaled 254 yards, with 114 for Trafford and 2 TD's, 89 yards for Tafuri and a TD and 52 yards for Dandridge with a TD.  Folmar, Austen Kivler '24 and Mike Van Raaphorst '24 bcombined for 6 catches for 123 yards and a TD.

Delbarton heads to Sparta on Saturday, October 7 to take on Pope John in a big SFC matchup.  Kick off is set for 1pm.
