The Green Wave opened the 2023-24 home schedule in grand fashion, defeating #9 Pingry 5-0 at SportsCare Arena.
Delbarton took an early 1-0 lead as sophomore
Liam Donnelly scored on the powerplay for the 1-0 lead. With the puck on the right circle,
Dante Rodriguez found
Egor Andreev cutting towards the net, who put a perfect pass across the crease to a cutting Donnelly who ripped a one timer into the empty net for the goal. Only 2 minutes later,
Matteo Conte scored his first of the season, sending a wrist shot from the blueline though traffic for the 2-0 Delbarton lead. Capping off the first period scoring was
Jack Ross who put back a Donnelly shot that rebounded off the boards in front of the net. Â
On the powerplay in the second period,
John Good found
Jack Gerne behind the net, who turned and lifted a shot by the goalie for the 4-0 lead and Delbarton's second powerplay goal on the afternoon. Captain
Max Pendy would complete the scoring in the third period, taking a pass from
Cole Hurst in Delbarton's end and finishing the rush with a nasty wrist shot, knocking the water bottle off the top of the net for the 5-0 lead.
Making his first appearance this season,
Cooper Ranawat made 11 saves for the shutout.
Liam Donnelly finished with a goal and an assist along with Jake Gerne, while Good,
Ayden Puppe, Hurst, Rodriguez and Andreev all had assists in the victory.
Delbarton has a quick turnaround, hosting Gloucester Catholic on Thursday, December 14 at 4pm from SportsCare Arena.
