Delbarton is returning to the NJSIAA Non Public semifinal, as the Green Wave defeated Pingry 3-0 on Monday, February 26.
Delbarton scored two goals in the first and one in the second, and goalie
George Cote was solid as ever in net, earning the playoff shutout in the win. Delbarton opened scoring early in the first as
Sean O'Gwen found the loose puck to the left of the goalie near the circle and ripped a shot through traffic for the 1-0 lead with just over four minutes into the game.
Egor Andreev made it 2-0 in the first, putting in a rebound off shot from the blueline. Andreev set a perfect screen in front of the goalie, finding the loose puck in front of the net and putting in the rebound for a big 2-0 lead with less than a minute left in the period.
Michael Good would finish the scoring in the second, as a clear by Delbarton into the Pingry zone took a very favorable bounce off the board, right to Good who was skating into the Pingry zone. The goalie thought the puck was going around the boards and did not see it bounce back, leaving Good with a one-timer in front of the net for the 3-0 lead.
Delbarton will now face a familiar opponent in St. Augustine on Wednesday, February 28 at Codey Arena. Puck drop set for 4:30pm. The winner of the game will head to the Prudential Center for the Non Public Championship on Monday, March 4.
