Wave Makers: Delbarton's Swim Team Rides to Victory Over Newark Academy

In an exciting showdown on Monday, February 5, the 5th seeded Green Wave Swim team defeated 8th seeded Newark Academy in the first round of the NJSIAA Non Public North Tournament. Despite a fierce competition, Delbarton emerged victorious with a final score of 95-75, winning its first state tournament meet since 2014!

The meet kicked off with an impressive win for the Green Wave in the 200m Medley Relay, where the team of Dom Narduzzi '27, Dalton Brooks '26, Femi Oshodi '26, and Jonah Kim '24 set the pace with a swift time of 1:52.99. The Green Wave gained momentum as Mike Fialcowitz '24, making a comeback from sickness, dominated the 200m Freestyle, clinching 1st place with a time of 2:07.91.

Femi Oshodi '26 continued Delbarton's winning streak with a commanding performance in the 100m Fly, racing to victory in 59.93 seconds. The dynamic foursome of Brooks, Oshodi, Narduzzi, and Kim once again proved unstoppable, securing another win for Delbarton in the 200m Freestyle Relay, widening the gap to 24 points with only three events remaining.

Dalton Brooks '26 seized the final individual victory of the night in the 100m Breaststroke with a stellar time of 1:17.14, further solidifying Delbarton's victory.

With this historic win under their belt, the Green Wave now turn their sights to their next challenge as they prepare to face off against the #4 seed Pingry in the quarterfinals.
