On January 15th, the Delbarton indoor track team took home the school's first Non-Public A state titles of the winter sports season. The Delbarton Distance Medley Relay and 4x800 squads won both events over very strong competition, including national powerhouse CBA. The Distance Medley race was arguably the most exciting event of the meet, with Delbarton and CBA trading leads through the race. Ultimately, Delbarton's
Sean Dooley ('25) closed his last 200m in a blistering 29.8 to outkick CBA's All-American anchor crossing the line in a Nationals and Penn Relays qualifying time of 10:32.40. This was the first time Delbarton has won this event since 2010. Congratulations to the team of John Cuzzocrea '25,
Hans Clovis '27, William Van Etten '28, and
Sean Dooley '25 on the state title!
Not to be outdone, the Delbarton 4x800m team of Josh Akakpo '27, William Van Etten, John Cuzzocrea, and
Sean Dooley, had a commanding win in a final time of 8:18.44. This was the first time in the program's history that it took home the 4x800m Non-Public A title.
The red hot throwing squad continued their season's dominance taking home the Shot Put relay state title. The duo of
Peter Donini '25 and
Antonio Conte '25 both had strong performances to secure the victory. Peter threw a strong 58-0, finishing first overall, and Antonio took home the individual bronze with a great throw of 45-0.5.
