Green Wave Opens Relay Season at Wayne Gardiner Holiday Relays

The Delbarton Winter Track and Field team competed in its first relay meet of the season on Saturday morning at Drew University, taking part in the Wayne Gardiner Holiday Relays, an event named in honor of longtime Delbarton teacher and coach Mr. Wayne Gardiner.

The Shuttle Hurdle Relay opened the meet and immediately set the tone for Delbarton. The senior quartet of Dan Gallic, Owen Clow, Zachary Leach, and Aidan Ponzio delivered a commanding victory, crossing the line in 33.57 seconds.

That performance currently ranks 14th all-time in Delbarton history, with the group setting its sights on even faster times as the season progresses. Despite it being early in the indoor campaign, the mark stands as the fastest shuttle hurdle relay time in New Jersey and the nation as indoor competition gets underway across the country.

Delbarton returns to action on Wednesday, December 17, when the Green Wave travels to Toms River to compete in the Rebel Field Series.
