The Green Wave field athletes traveled to Toms River on Wednesday to fine-tune their skills at the Rebel Field Series, turning in several strong performances across the throws, jumps, and vaults.
Senior Trevor Wyso led the scoring for Delbarton, placing second in the shot put with a season-best throw of 43 feet, 11 inches. Several other Green Wave throwers also showed progress, continuing to work toward personal bests.
In the jumps, senior Zachary Leach posted a mark of 17 feet, 5 inches in the long jump, earning a spot on Delbarton's All-Time Winter Records List. Leach also added a personal-best performance in the high jump, finishing third overall.
Senior pole vaulters Alexander Makovsky and Dever Hanlon put their training on display as well. Makovsky placed sixth overall, while Hanlon cleared 10 feet for a season best, earning a place on Delbarton's All-Time Winter Track & Field Records List.
Additional scoring came in the long jump, where senior Aidan Ponzio finished sixth. Junior Brendan Martin returned to form with a personal-best leap of 19 feet, 6.5 inches, good for ninth all-time on Delbarton's Winter Records List.
Next up, the Green Wave runners head to Staten Island on Saturday to compete in the 71st Annual Bishop Loughlin Games at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. Go Green Wave!
