In a gritty matchup played through cold rain and even some snow, Delbarton Rugby secured a hard-fought 17-8 home victory over St. Joe's by the Sea on Saturday, April 12 at South Gate Field.
Despite trailing 5-0 at the half, the Green Wave roared back in the second half with a dominant performance. Man of the Match, Antonio Conte led the charge with two crucial tries, while Patrick Goetz added another to swing momentum in Delbarton's favor. James Freshwater converted one of the three tries in the victory.
Defensively, Delbarton held strong, allowing only a single penalty kick in the second half as St. Joe's attempted to fight back. Delbarton stood strong, earning a 17-8 home victory.
The win was even more impressive given several players stepping into new roles due to injuries. John Maguire took over at fly half, Andrew Lebowitz filled in at flanker, and Sam Marsheh on the wing—all delivering under pressure.
This marks Delbarton's second straight win over St. Joe's, following a dominant 38-0 road victory last year and improves the Green Wave's record to 4-1.
