Track and Field Opens Season at NJSIAA State Prep Relays

On Friday April 4, the Delbarton Spring Track and Field team kicked off the season at the NJISAA Prep State Relays at Lawrenceville.  The field events relays led the team with major victories in all three throwing disciplines and top results in the jumps.  The discus relays of senior Peter Donini (167'8) and junior Trevor Wyso (111'11) broke the Delbarton School two-man relay record en-route to victory.  The same two athletes followed that up with a victory in the shot put relay with throws of 62'4.5 and 46'0.  Both throws were new outdoor personal bests.  The javelin relay of junior Daniel Gallic (152'10) and senior Johnathan Flores (146'7) won overall with the top two throws on the day.

In the high jump, juniors Martin Hindelong (6') and Zachary Leach (5'8) placed second overall with personal best in their first meet of the year.  The pole vault relay of juniors Alexander Makovsky and Dever Hanlon also placed second overall.  The long jump relay of junior Aidan Ponzio (20'8) and sophomore Brendan Martin (19'3) finished in third place.

On the track, the three-man 400m Hurdle relay of senior Grant Parker (1:03.86) and juniors Hans Clovis (1:03.79) and James Sommer (1:08.24) placed third overall.  Clovis and Parker had the third and fourth fastest times on the day.  The 4x800m relay placed third as well (junior Matthew O'Reilly, sophomore Keshav Suri, and freshmen Jonathan Gels and Daniel Kim).  The Distance Medley finished in fifth place (senior Grant Parker, junior Neil Van Kirk, and sophomore Gabriel Rodriguez and Andrew Kapp).
