On Friday April 4, the Delbarton Spring Track and Field team kicked off the season at the NJISAA Prep State Relays at Lawrenceville. The field events relays led the team with major victories in all three throwing disciplines and top results in the jumps. The discus relays of senior
Peter Donini (167'8) and junior
Trevor Wyso (111'11) broke the Delbarton School two-man relay record en-route to victory. The same two athletes followed that up with a victory in the shot put relay with throws of 62'4.5 and 46'0. Both throws were new outdoor personal bests. The javelin relay of junior
Daniel Gallic (152'10) and senior
Johnathan Flores (146'7) won overall with the top two throws on the day.
In the high jump, juniors
Martin Hindelong (6') and
Zachary Leach (5'8) placed second overall with personal best in their first meet of the year. The pole vault relay of juniors
Alexander Makovsky and
Dever Hanlon also placed second overall. The long jump relay of junior
Aidan Ponzio (20'8) and sophomore
Brendan Martin (19'3) finished in third place.
On the track, the three-man 400m Hurdle relay of senior
Grant Parker (1:03.86) and juniors
Hans Clovis (1:03.79) and
James Sommer (1:08.24) placed third overall. Clovis and Parker had the third and fourth fastest times on the day. The 4x800m relay placed third as well (junior
Matthew O'Reilly, sophomore
Keshav Suri, and freshmen
Jonathan Gels and
Daniel Kim). The Distance Medley finished in fifth place (senior
Grant Parker, junior
Neil Van Kirk, and sophomore
Gabriel Rodriguez and
Andrew Kapp).
