On Tuesday May 13, the Delbarton Track and Field team hosted the first ever Delbarton Sprint Night after debuting the Delbarton Distance Night last year. The meet was a great success with athletes from all over the state competing against the clock for new personal bests and new seed times for the postseason. The Delbarton sprinters took on challengers and themselves in the races against the clock with all performing at a high level. In the 800 meter race, Freshman standout William Van Etten took the victory in a personal best 2:00.71 which is not only the Delbarton School freshman record, but is also the fastest freshman time in Morris County history. Joshua Akakpo was third in 2:02.53, and senior
Grant Parker was 6th in 2:08.92. Later, in a rescheduled 1600m race due to the rained out Distance Night, the Delbarton distance team dominated with places 1-7. Senior
Sean Dooley was 1st in 4:25.95, senior John Cuzzocrea was 2nd in 4:26.46, senior
Joseph Sheaffer was 3rd in 4:30.80, sophomore
Ryan Leuenberger was 4th in 4:36.78, sophomore Todd Smith was 5th in 4:42.31, sophomore
Matthew Fic was 6th in 4:54.23, and junior
Matthew O'Reilly debuted with his first official 1600m under 5:00 at 4:54.66. Congratulations to the mid-distance and distance teams led by Coaches O'Reilly and Frost!
On Thursday May 15th, the Delbarton Field team traveled to Christian Brothers Academy for a postseason tune up before the final stretch of the season. Senior
Johnathan Flores hit a new personal best in the javelin to win the event at 163'4. Junior
Evan Villoresi was 4th at 143'10. Junior
Aidan Ponzio also took home the victory in the long jump with a leap of 20'7. Junior
Martin Hindelong took 2nd with a high jump of 6'0. Junior
Trevor Wyso was 6th in the shot put at 44'6.25.
