On Thursday May 1, the Green Wave competed late into the night at the Morris County Relay Championships, held at Randolph High School. Despite being far from full strength, the team competed well both on the track and in the field. The major highlight from the meet came from the red hot throws group of
Peter Donini '25,
Trevor Wyso '26 and
Antonio Conte '25. The trio took home first place in the shot put relay. This trio ends the relay portion of the season as the most dominant throws relay team in school history. In the discus event, Peter and Trevor were joined by
Zachary Chipperson '25. This group took home an overall second place as a group and took down an over 20 year old school relay record in the process with a combined distance of 390 ft 10 in! Lastly, the javelin team of Jonathan Flores '25, Dan Gallic '26, and
Evan Villoresi '26 also finished in a very strong 3rd place throwing a combined distance of 460ft 1in, the best performance by a Delbarton javelin relay team since 2011. Congratulations to the throws crew athletes and Coachs Rose and Mehigan!
On the track, the distance squad shined in the highly competitive 4x1600, taking home second place in the race. Delbarton competed neck and neck with Randolph every step of the 18 minute race, until Randolph ultimately pulled away in the final lap. The team of
Sean Dooley '25, Will Van Etten '28, Joe Sheaffer '25, and John Cuzzocrea '25 finished in 18:11, one of the fastest times in school history. Elsewhere on the track, the 4x800 team of Josh Akakpo '27, Zach Gordon '25, Matt Heyer '28, and Todd Smith '27 finished in a solid sixth place.
Delbarton is back in action this week at the NJAC championships. Go Wave!
