The Green Wave dropped to 1-3 on the season, losing to a tough St. Peter's Prep squad 42-7 on Saturday during Homecoming 2025.
Delbarton battled early but could not withstand a second-half surge from St. Peter's Prep in a 42-7 setback on Saturday.
The opening quarter was a defensive standoff, as both teams traded stops to keep the game scoreless after 12 minutes. The Green Wave defense showed grit, forcing pressure up front and limiting big plays.
St. Peter's broke through in the second quarter, capitalizing first on a 66-yard interception return before adding a 63-yard touchdown pass to take a 14-0 lead into halftime.
The Marauders struck quickly after the break, extending their advantage with two third-quarter scores. Delbarton answered when quarterback Gavin Gilardi connected with Grant Van Raaphorst on a 13-yard touchdown reception, cutting the deficit to 28-7. It was the lone offensive highlight for the Green Wave, as St. Peter's closed out the game with two rushing touchdowns in the fourth.
Gilardi finished 11-of-19 for 107 yards through the air. Sophomore running back Kobe Irby-Mason was a bright spot, pounding out 144 yards on 22 carries to lead all rushers. Van Raaphorst totaled 30 yards receiving with the lone Delbarton score.
Defensively, the Green Wave registered two sacks, courtesy of Emmett Caughey and Luke McBride, while Alex Fazekas paced the unit with a team-high five tackles.
With the loss, Delbarton turns its attention to a crucial matchup with Seton Hall Prep this Saturday at 1 p.m. at Regan Stadium.
