Delbarton earned a statement win on Don Bosco's home ice last night, knocking off Don Bosco Prep 3–1 to improve to 6-1-3 on the season.
The Green Wave struck first in an unconventional way just minutes into the opening period. A clearing attempt by Jacob Gomez from center ice was misplayed by the Don Bosco goaltender and slipped under his stick, giving Delbarton a 1–0 lead. Don Bosco answered with under two remaining in the first, as Chris Conklin scored to send the teams to the intermission tied at 1–1.
Momentum swung decisively in Delbarton's favor in the second period. After killing off a critical five-minute major with Michael Pirot in the box — a stretch that energized the bench — the Green Wave capitalized at even strength. Sean O'Gwen gained control of a loose puck off the boards by the blue line and buried it five hole to put Delbarton back in front, 2–1.
Delbarton continued to control play in the third, and Ayden Puppe provided the insurance goal to seal the victory. Despite going 0-for-2 on the power play, the Green Wave's discipline and defensive structure held firm down the stretch.
In net, Paul Insauto was sharp, stopping 16 of 17 shots to earn the win, including several key saves during Don Bosco's push in the opening period.
