Delbarton Basketball earned a hard-fought road win on Tuesday night, holding off DePaul Catholic, 67–62, in Wayne to improve to 13–5 on the season.
The Green Wave set the tone early, jumping out to an 18–8 lead after one quarter behind strong defensive pressure and efficient scoring. DePaul responded in the second and third quarters, trimming the margin and setting up an intense final eight minutes, but Delbarton delivered when it mattered most.
Austin Kolakowski powered the offense with a game-high 24 points, knocking down three three-pointers and going 5-for-6 from the free-throw line. He also chipped in with four rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and six steals, making his presence felt on both ends of the floor. Stephen Kmetz added 11 points, while Nick Treue chipped in 10 points and four rebounds to give Delbarton balanced scoring support.
Inside, Gunther Neumann anchored the paint with a dominant all-around effort, pulling down nine rebounds and dishing out nine assists to go along with key defensive stops. Marty Hindelong contributed five points, three rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and two steals, providing valuable energy and versatility off the bench.
Delbarton carried a 47–39 advantage into the fourth quarter before DePaul made a late push, outscoring the Green Wave 23–20 in the final frame.
The Green Wave now turn their attention to the first second round of the Morris County Tournament where they will face the winner of Parsippany and Hanover Park on Tuesday, Febraury 3.
