The Delbarton golf team capped off a perfect 2026 season in dramatic fashion on Wednesday, battling through a tightly contested field to capture the NJAC Championship at Flanders Valley Golf Course with a one-stroke victory over Chatham.
The Green Wave foursome spent the entire day grinding through 18 holes as Chatham and Madison surged to the top of the leaderboard early in the tournament. Delbarton remained steady throughout the front and back nine before eventually taking control late in the day, holding off a final push from Chatham to secure the championship with a team score of 310, edging the Cougars' 311 by the narrowest of margins.
Leading the way individually for Delbarton were Myles Jackson and Hudson Vargas, who each fired impressive 1-over-par 73s to finish third and fourth overall in a loaded field. Their consistency throughout the round proved pivotal as the Green Wave battled every shot down the stretch.
The championship victory closes the book on a remarkable undefeated season for Delbarton, which finished 15-0 against one of the toughest schedules in the state. Along the way, the Green Wave earned signature victories over programs including St. Joseph Regional, Montville, Ridge, and Blair, continuing the program's tradition as one of New Jersey's premier golf powers.
