The varsity basketball team has had a great season so far, opening with a 13-3 record while earning the #2 seed in the upcoming Morris County Tournament. With an 8-2 home record, the Green Wave will open the tournament at Abbot Brian Clarke Gym on Saturday, February 8 against Whippany Park.
Since losing to Summit on January 11, the Green Wave have hit their stride, going 7-1 with big wins over Mendham, Chatham, Morristown Beard and Sparta. On February 6, Delbarton took down Pope John for the second time this season, 61-46 behind 15 points from
Jerry Jabbour and 11 points from
Alex Paulius.
Isaiah Washington chipped in with 10 points while
Charlie Smith added 9 points off the bench. Delbarton opened the game with a big 30-16 lead at the half and held Pope John to only 30 second half points.
Whippany Park comes into Saturday's game having won six in a row, including a 51-43 win over Morristown in the preliminary round of the Morris County Tournament. Saturday's game tips off at 1pm at Delbarton. The winner will take on the winner of Mendham and Madison in the quarterfinals.
