For Veer Dhall '26, Delbarton has never been just a school—it's been home. A senior captain of the Delbarton basketball team, a two-year varsity player, and the first four-year member of the Green Wave Sports Network, Dhall has spent nearly every day of the past six years investing in the Green Wave community. Whether it's on the court, behind the microphone, or in the stands supporting his teammates, his impact has been felt across campus.
Veer's Delbarton journey began well before high school. "I chose Delbarton because I loved the culture and brotherhood," he said. "I saw what made the school special through my brother Neel Dhall '24, and that really motivated me to come here."
Since seventh grade, Delbarton has been a constant presence in his life. "I'm on campus six out of seven days a week," he said. "Supporting my guys at their events and them doing the same for me—that's what makes this place so special. The community and culture here are hard to replicate anywhere else."
Being named a senior captain is something Veer doesn't take lightly. "I remember watching games as a middle schooler from the student section, hoping that would be me one day," he said. "Now to be a captain, it's incredibly meaningful."
The role has pushed Veer to grow. "It motivates me to continue improving and to help those around me improve," he added. "I'm grateful to my teammates for trusting me with the opportunity to lead."
One game stands out above the rest: the Morris County quarterfinal matchup against Madison last season. "It was tight the whole way," Veer said. "I had an and-one, made two straight defensive stops, and hit crucial free throws at the end. That win moved us on to the county semifinals."
For Veer, it wasn't just about the points—it was about stepping up when the team needed it most.
Veer believes leadership starts with communication. "A great leader makes sure everyone is on the same page," he said. "If one person messes up, the whole team messes up. It's never just an individual thing."
That mindset shapes how he leads daily. "I try to remind my teammates that we succeed and fail together. The game is bigger than any single mistake."
Varsity basketball is defined by game nights. But Veer knows the real work happens long before tip off.
"Repetition is everything," he said. "Whether it's your shot, footwork, timing, or feel for the game, it takes countless reps to nail the details. Those tiny things—angles, spacing, positioning—are what separate good teams from great ones."
A Voice of the Green Wave
Veer's impact at Delbarton goes well beyond basketball. As the first four-year member of the Green Wave Sports Network, he helped shape how Delbarton athletics are covered and celebrated.
"I've always had a strong interest in broadcasting," he said. "GWSN felt like the perfect opportunity. It also filled a real void in the Delbarton community."
Calling games has changed how he sees basketball. "Broadcasting helped me understand the game from a wider perspective," he said. "I notice small details now, and it's made me more aware of where teammates need to be and when."
One broadcast stands out: calling the Delbarton vs. Mendham county championship game during his sophomore year. "It was an incredible game—Delbarton won by one point," he said. "Being a basketball player made it easier to explain what was happening in real time. There were so many ups and downs—it was unforgettable to watch and call."
The Legacy He Hopes to Leave
The biggest lesson Veer will carry forward: "Embrace your role and do the hard work when nobody is watching," he said. "Consistency and effort matter more than recognition."
That mindset, he says, has taught him the value of preparation, resilience, and teamwork.
As his Delbarton chapter comes to a close, Veer hopes to be remembered not for statistics or accolades, but for his energy and humility.
"I hope people remember me as someone who worked hard and helped his brothers," he said. "I also hope underclassmen feel encouraged to step into new roles and try new things because of the impact I made."
For Veer, "all in" has never been about just one role. It's been about showing up—every day—for his teammates, his school, and the Green Wave brotherhood.
