The Delbarton Basketball team, led by second-year coach Matt Crane, finished with an overall record of 18-11, despite a schedule of top NJ programs and strong out of state competition. The season reflected their determination and growth throughout the year.
The season opened with a challenging matchup against Fairfield Prep. The Green Wave played well down the stretch, earning a 63-54 victory. The team lost to two very tough out of state and out of conference games before earning two victories in the JP Flynn Tournament. The Green Wave played a very competitive January schedule, with wins over Chatham, Morris Knolls, St. Joe's Metuchen and DePaul Catholic, while losing a close battle with out-of-state Monsignor Scanlan, Mendham and St. Joe's Regional.
In the Morris County Tournament, Delbarton demonstrated their competitive edge. They dominated Randolph with a 79-19 victory on February 5, followed by a narrow 55-53 win over Madison High School on February 8. However, their tournament run concluded with a 73-63 loss to Morris Catholic on February 16. The Green Wave's postseason journey featured a notable 64-59 victory over DePaul Catholic on February 28, advancing them in the NJSIAA Non-Public A North Quarterfinal thanks to a career night by senior Patrick Mahoney '25. Despite their efforts, Delbarton's season concluded with a 64-53 loss to Don Bosco Prep on March 3.
With a core of young talent remaining, the future is bright for the basketball program in 2026.
