Christmas break at Delbarton means a few things, empty classrooms, beautiful decorations, and the JP Flynn Memorial Basketball Tournament. Held every year by Delbarton, the JP Flynn Tournament honors J.P. Flynn '86, who was killed returning home from studying abroad during the 1988 terrorist attack on Pan Am Flight 103, later known as the Lockerbie bombing. The tournament honors J.P.'s memory as a both an avid basketball player and a member of the Green Wave.
This year, the tournament features games at two schools (Delbarton and Mendham) and eight talented basketball programs: Wayne Valley, Randolph, Morris Catholic, Delbarton, Hunterdon Central, West Morris, Morristown and Mendham.
Delbarton comes into the tournament with a 2-0 record, following wins against Pope John and Chatham. This will be the first home game of the regular season for the Green Wave, coming off a big 59-52 win in Chatham earlier this week.
