For the second straight season, the Green Wave upset a previously unbeaten team, this year defeating 12-0 Morris Catholic 65-64 on Tuesday night in Denville.

Morris Catholic and Delbarton played a very close first half, with Morris Catholic hanging on to a one point, 35-34 lead at the half.  They would build a 6 point lead after three, outscoring the green wave 20-15 in the third quarter.  However, the Green Wave did not back down, outscoring Morris Catholic 16-9 in the final quarter for the one point victory.

Derek Lagios had 18 points for the Green Wave, hitting the game-winning layup with 7 seconds left to lift Delbarton to victory. Skyler Venezia had 13 points and 8 rebounds and Mike Vaccaro had 15 points and 7 rebounds.

Delbarton is now 8-4 and 4-1 away from Abbot Clarke Gym.  The boys host Chatham on Thursday before visiting Jefferson on Saturday before hosting the second round of the Morris County Tournament on February 5.  Congrats to Coach Whalen and the entire Green Wave Basketball team on a fantastic team win, and Go Green Wave!
