Middle School Cross Country Wins Three at Quad Meet

Yesterday's dual meet versus Roxbury turned into a quad meet together with Pequannock and Valleview, however the team performed incredibly well, sweeping all three schools to improve to 7-1 this season. "Unexpected, but our boys rose to the challenge," said head coach Brian Theroux. "There were 72 boys on the start line in today's race. That's a lot of energy and elbows. While this is the biggest race we have had so far this season, such larger crowds are actually the norm for high school XC races."

The Delbarton runners did a great job today starting fast and establishing position. It is easier to navigate a course and manage pace when you are in the front of the pack.  Matthew Laurenzi took first overall with a time of 9:05, Cameron Gabriel (5) 9:46, Kabir Singh (7) 9:55, Eric Feng (9) 9:57, Alexander Tonzola (11) 9:59, Jacob Gordon (23) 10:54, Ajay Tolia (24) 11:00, Edward Zervigon 11:03, Grady Hall 15:06, Enzo Mazzanti 15:48, Christian Barravecchio 15:52 all performed well for Delbarton, who defeated Roxbury 35-22, Pequannock 33-19 and Valleyview 42-19.

"I anticipate over 100 boys in each of the county championship races starting next week. says Theroux.  "Tallying places, times and team scores in multi-team races is a bit tricky, and I was thankful for the assistance of MSXC alumnus Wesley Gabriel. The team made the math easy, with 5 guys finishing in top 11. A great day for Delbarton MSXC."

The team will participate in 3 races next week, Monday vs. Morris Plains, Tuesday vs. Morristown Beard, Pingry and Peck and then the Morris County Grade Races on Thursday.  Congrats and best of luck Green Wave!
