The Middle School Green Wave Cross Country team raced in its final regular season meet on October 18 at Loantaka Park. Delbarton faced three tough opponents in Peck, Pingry and Morristown Beard, taking two of three to finish the regular season with a fantastic 9-2 record.
"The team huddle and break-down before today's race was the beginning of what I think was our best team performance of the season," said coach Brian Theroux. "Our 1-2 guys raced hard, and edged out their closest competitors in the final stretch."
The 3-4-5 guys showed why they are such an important part of our team, finishing in front of most of the Peck and Mo-Beard scorers. Having an equally tough 6-7-8 pack of guys who can displace scorers from other teams is a key to shifting the balance in our favor when there are close matchups at the top. Everyone finished today's race strong. Matthew Laurenzi took home first place with a time of 11:13. Cameron Gabriel (3) 11:45 and Kabir Singh (10), rounded out the top 10 finishers for Delbarton with a time of 12:1. Eric Feng (14) 12:24, Alexander Tonzola (17) 12:52, Jacob Gordon (29) 13:30, Ajay Tolia (31) 13:36, Edward Zervigon 13:45, Enzo Mazzanti 17:25, Christian Barravecchio 17:33 all had great times for the team and finished the race proudly.
Says coach Theroux: "We are in great shape heading into the County Championship races. Go Wave!"
