Delbarton Dominates Morris Catholic, Advances to J.P. Flynn Semifinal

Tthe 16th ranked Green Wave (3-1) put forth a dominant performance in round one of the J.P. Flynn Memorial Tournament on Monday, December 26, besting 19th ranked Morris Catholic 71 - 30 (1-2).

Delbarton's offense had it all: fast breaks, back door cuts, putbacks, and ten three-pointers, en route to its best offensive performance of the young season.

Michael VanRaaphorst '24 (12 points, 4 rebounds), led the offense onslaught and was the night's top scorer for the Green Wave. Mike Vaccaro '23 (11 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 blocked shots, 4 steals) turned in a commanding performance on both ends of the floor, while Lincoln Zimmermann '24 (10 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists) was an asset off the bench once again for the Green Wave.  The team finished with three players scoring in double digits, while also grabbing 29 rebounds and causing 13 turnovers in the victory.

Delbarton's defense was absolutely stifling in the win, limiting the Crusaders to only two second quarter points (25-2) en route to a 43-12 halftime lead. The Green Wave defense proved relentless in the second half as well limiting their opponent to 30 points by game's end; again a season best.

Delbarton now moves on to the semifinal round, hosting Hunterdon Central tonight at 7pm.
