The Green Wave improved to 8-2 on the season, defeating Montgomery 66-57 on Saturday, January 14 at Abbot Clarke Gym.
Montgomery jumped out to an early 19-14 lead after one quarter, but the Green Wave were not ready to give up. In what has been a big quarter for them all season long, the Green Wave would outscore Montgomery 22-6 in the second quarter for a big 36-25 lead. Montgomery would forge back in the third quarter behind the hot shooting of Luke Smith. Despite being outscored 17-14 in the third, Delbarton still took a 50-42 lead into the final quarter of play. Delbarton would put the game out of reach in the fourth with a 16-15 final frame for the 66-57 win.
The Green Wave had two standout performances on Saturday, with Mike VanRaaphorst and
Lincoln Zimmermann both scoring 18 points. VanRaaphorst also chipped in with 6 rebounds and two assists, while Zimmermann had 3 assists to go along with his 18 points off the bench.Â
Nick Modugno had 8 pts and 7 rebounds,
Julian Radossich had 7 pts and 5 rebounds, while
Grant Dangler had 6 pts and 5 rebounds in the win.Â
Mike Vaccaro chipped in with 7 points and 6 rebounds for the Green Wave as well. Â
Delbarton looks to avenge an early season loss to Morristown on Tuesday, January 17 at Delbarton. The boys then head to Randolph to face the Rams on the 19th and visit Oratory Prep on the 21st. Â
