The Green Wave completed a sweep of the home-and-home series with Gloucester Catholic on Monday, January 2, kicking off the 2023 portion of the season with a victory, improving to 5-0 on the season.
This was not the high scoring 6-5 game from December, rather timely scoring and big time saves by
Jason Cai led Delbarton to a big 3-1 win.
Delbarton got on the board in the first period when
Jack Fidacaro scored off a shot from
Dante Rodriguez for the 1-0 lead. In the second period, Delbarton would double the lead when
Duncan Stewart deflected the puck past the goalie off a beautiful feed in front by
Timmy Galvin for the 2-0 lead. A one-timer from Gloucester Catholic would make it 2-1 after 2 periods, but
Duncan Stewart would put the game away just before the final buzzer, making a sliding play to intercept the puck and scoring into the empty net for the 3-1 win.
Jason Cai was solid in goal again, making 21 saves in the victory. Delbarton now turns its attention to two big Gordon Conference opponents as they travel to Jersey Shore Arena to face #1 CBA on Wednesday, January 4. The Green Wave return home the following Tuesday, January 10 to host rival Don Bosco Prep.
Congrats on the win and best of luck vs. CBA.
