In a Gordon Conference showdown at Sportscare Arena in Randolph, the Delbarton Green Wave showcased their prowess on the ice, defeating Bergen Catholic with a 5-3 victory on Monday, January 29. Captain Max Pendy, the senior forward for Delbarton, stole the show with a stunning four-goal performance.
From the onset, the game promised high intensity and fierce competition, with both teams vying for dominance. However, it was Bergen Catholic who drew first blood, as they opened the scoring to take an early lead. Bergen Catholic, undeterred, rallied back with Pendy's first goal of the game in the second period, but Bergen Catholic would put up 2 more in the third to take the 3-1 lead.
Trailing 3-1 after two periods, the Green Wave unleashed a barrage of goals, led by Pendy and Sophomore Egor Andreev. Pendy would make it 3-2 off a one-timer and Andreev scored on the powerplay to tie the game up 3-3.Â
With momentum firmly on their side, Delbarton seized control of the game as Pendy, a standout talent committed to Princeton, would take control off the ensuing face-off and rip a shot into the net for the 4-3 lead. He would complete his four-goal game with an empty net goal to secure the 5-3 victory.
Aidan Pasic and Dante Rodriguez provided vital support for Delbarton, each contributing two assists to fuel the team's offensive. Meanwhile, goaltender George Cote stood tall between the pipes, turning aside 14 shots.
With this impressive win, Delbarton continues to build momentum as they continue a week with games vs. CBA and Don Bosco on the horizon.
