In a dominant display, Delbarton School's JV Green Wave won the Bosco JV Baseball tournament on Wednesday, May 22 with a 10-0 victory over St. Joseph Regional Green Knights. The Green Wave set the tone early, with Lorenzo Maselli '26 and Girard Yoo '26 scoring runs in the top of the first inning. Yoo's aggressive baserunning saw him steal home, contributing to the early lead.
Delbarton extended their advantage to 3-0 in the second inning, thanks to a key single by Noah Morales '26. The Green Wave continued to pressure the Green Knights, adding another run in the fourth inning following a series of strategic plays, including a single by Ethan Yerow '26, a sacrifice bunt by Sean Fialcowitz '26, and a fielder's choice by Cole Dionyssiou '25. Daniel Cosmi '26 capped off the inning with an RBI single.
The decisive blow came in the sixth inning when Delbarton exploded for four more runs. Cosmi's double drove in Dionyssiou and Fialcowitz, showcasing the team's offensive prowess. The Green Wave ended the game with 16 hits, scoring in all but two frames.
John Fedun '26 delivered a masterful performance on the mound, earning his eighth win of the season—a JV record. He pitched 6.1 innings, allowed just three hits, and struck out six batters while walking four. Alex Volpe '26 efficiently closed the game, striking out two batters on nine pitches. "This was a special season and it was even more special to do it alongside my former student and player, Patrick Christie '19, who called the pitches all year for the most dominant JV staff ever," says head coach Dan Szelingowski.
Cosmi and Maselli led the offensive charge, each collecting three hits. Michael Andrisano '25, Cole Dionyssiou '25, and Steven Corcoran '25, who have been stalwarts all season, also contributed multiple hits. Andrisano's hits tied a JV single-season record at 31, while Yoo set a new JV record with 24 stolen bases for the year.
Delbarton's defense was equally impressive, committing no errors and maintaining a stellar fielding percentage. Their dominant season saw them finish with a record of 22-1, outscoring opponents 211-28. The team's path to the championship included decisive victories over St. Peter's Prep and Seton Hall Prep.
This championship marks the culmination of a record-setting season for Delbarton JV Green Wave, highlighting their balanced attack in pitching, offense, and defense.
