The Delbarton hockey team continued its dominant season with a thrilling 6-4 victory over Princeton Day on Wednesday night in Princeton. Led by a hat trick from senior captain Jack Gerne and a stellar all-around performance from the Green Wave, Delbarton overcame a determined Princeton Day squad in a back-and-forth affair.

First Period: Delbarton's Early Surge

The Green Wave wasted no time asserting themselves offensively. Aidan Pasic opened the scoring, assisted by Dante Rodriguez and Marco Zimovcak. Just minutes later, Jack Gerne tallied his first goal of the game off a setup from Egor Andreev, giving Delbarton a 2-0 advantage.

Princeton Day responded, cutting the deficit to 2-1. However, Gerne struck again before the period ended, converting a pass from Jack Ross and Sean O'Gwen to restore Delbarton's two-goal lead at 3-1.  The second period belonged to Princeton Day, who fought back to tie the game. Fred Ringblom scored early in the frame, assisted by Ewanchyna and Filip Kacmarsky, bringing the Panthers within one. Later, with Delbarton down a man, Princeton Day capitalized on a power play opportunity, notting the game at 3-3 heading into the third period.

Third Period: Delbarton Closes It Out

Delbarton regained its composure and took over in the final frame. Sean O'Gwen scored a power-play goal off assists from Pasic and Andreev to reclaim the lead at 4-3. Princeton Day answered with a power-play goal of their own from Kacmarsky, tying the game once again at 4-4.  With the game hanging in the balance, Gerne delivered in the clutch. While shorthanded, he scored his third goal of the night, giving Delbarton a 5-4 lead. In the final moments, O'Gwen sealed the victory with an empty-net goal, assisted by Matteo Conte, securing the 6-4 win.
