Delbarton hockey (12-1-1) delivered a commanding performance on Tuesday night, shutting out Christian Brothers Academy (17-4) with a dominant 6-0 victory, clinching the Gordon Conference title. Behind a relentless offensive attack and a flawless effort in goal from George Cote, the Green Wave proved why they remain one of the top teams in the state.
From the opening puck drop, Delbarton controlled the pace. Aidan Pasic got the scoring started in the first period, finishing off a setup from Dante Rodriguez and Ayden Puppe to give the Green Wave a lead late in the first. Moments later, Rodriguez found the back of the net himself, splitting two defenders, off assists from Pasic and Matteo Conte, doubling Delbarton's advantage.
The momentum continued into the opening of the second period as Egor Andreev capitalized on a feed from Jack Ross and Jack Gerne, extending the lead to 3-0, just 9 seconds into the period.
Delbarton sealed the game with a dominant third-period performance. Ross netted his first goal of the night off assists from Sean O'Gwen and Gerne, before Pasic struck again, converting a setup from Thomas Keough and Puppe. Gerne capped off the night with the sixth and final goal, assisted by Andreev and Ross.
In net, Cote was rock solid, stopping all 17 shots he faced to earn the shutout. His perfect performance secured Delbarton's statement win over one of the state's top teams.
With this victory, the Green Wave continue their impressive season, showcasing both offensive firepower and defensive stability. They'll look to build on this momentum as they approach the final stretch of the regular season on Friday against Don Bosco Prep.
