Delbarton Hockey launched its 2025 season in emphatic fashion on the road, powering past La Salle College Prep (PA) for a 5–0 season-opening victory. From start to finish, the Green Wave controlled possession, dictated tempo, and generated pressure, outshooting the Explorers by a 71–10 margin.
The scoring started in the first period when Jacob Gomez buried the opener, giving Delbarton early momentum. The Green Wave doubled the lead in the second thanks to CJ Sorrentino, who sneaked a shot from inside the blueline to make it 2–0. Later in the period, Sean O'Gwen pounced on a rebound in front, extending the advantage to 3–0.
Before the second intermission, Cole Hurst netted the first of his two goals, capping a commanding second period. Hurst added his second of the night in the third period to close out a five-goal performance for the Green Wave attack.
In his Delbarton debut, Paul Insauto was steady and composed between the pipes, stopping all 10 shots he faced to secure the shutout.
Special teams were equally sharp: Delbarton finished 2-for-3 on the power play and successfully killed off its lone penalty of the game.
The Green Wave showcased impressive distribution across the lineup, with Michael Pirot leading the way with three assists. Additional assists came from Thomas Keough, Matthew Good, Cole Hurst, Matthew Peng, Aidan Pasic, Egor Andreev, and Marco Zimovack.
Delbarton opens its Gordon Division schedule on December 9 at Princeton Day School.
