The Delbarton Green Wave continued their dominant season with a commanding 6-1 victory over Seton Hall Prep in the Gordon Cup quarterfinals on Tuesday. Controlling the pace of play from start to finish, Delbarton fired 39 shots on goal while limiting Seton Hall Prep to just 19, securing their spot in the tournament's semifinal round against St. Augustine Prep.
The Green Wave set the tone early, with Ayden Puppe opening the scoring in the first period. Delbarton then erupted for three goals in the second frame, as Jack Gerne netted his first of two goals in the period, followed by a one timer through the five hole in front of the net by Thomas Keough. The offensive onslaught continued into the third, with Dante Rodrigeuz scoring after the Pirates made it 4-1 and Egor Andreev adding another to seal the victory on a beautiful blast over the glove of the goalie.
Delbarton's special teams played a crucial role, converting both of their power-play opportunities while shutting down Seton Hall Prep's man-advantage. Goaltender George Cote was a steady presence in net, stopping 18 of 19 shots for a .947 save percentage.
Jack Gerne led the way with a three-point night (2G, 1A), while Matteo Conte, Jack Ross, and Rodriguez each chipped in two assists. The balanced offensive effort saw 11 different Delbarton players record a point.
With the win, Delbarton improves to 14-1-1 on the season and advances to the Gordon Cup semifinals, where they will look to continue their championship pursuit against a tough Hermits squad on Thursday at 4pm from SportsCare Arena.
