The Green Wave Tennis team opened its season this week with two victories against Montville and Randolph, defeating both schools by a 5-0 score.
March 25: Delbarton 5, Montville 0
Delbarton set the tone early with a sweep against Montville. At first singles, Brayden Bonetti delivered a commanding 6-0, 6-1 victory. Second singles player Alex Choi battled back through a tough match, ultimately winning 4-6, 6-4, 10-5. At third singles, Ryan Moumdjian also fought through a close contest, winning 4-6, 6-4, 11-9.
In doubles action, the first team of Chase Eagen and Connor Pertusi secured a 6-4, 6-2 win, while the second doubles duo of Andrew McDavitt and Dylan Scarpatti claimed a solid 6-3, 6-3 victory.
March 27: Delbarton 5, Randolph 0
Delbarton carried its momentum into the match against Randolph, once again sweeping all five courts. Bonetti continued his dominant play at first singles with a 6-2, 6-0 victory. Choi put together a near-flawless performance at second singles, winning 6-1, 6-0. Makayo Cheung made his season debut at third singles and delivered a strong 6-1, 6-3 win.
The doubles teams remained solid, with the first pair cruising to a 6-0, 6-1 victory and the second team closing out the match with a 6-0, 6-4 win.
The team will look to keep the momentum rolling as they prepare for a big out of state matchup with Malvern Prep (PA) on March 29.
