The Green Wave Tennis team, led by head coach
John Thompson, defeated a very tough Dwight-Englewood squad 4-1 yesterday to advance in the NJSIAA Non Public North tournament.
The team swept all three singles matches and got a big win at first doubles to take home a 4-1 advantage. First single
Brayden Bonetti returned to action in a big way, winning 6-1, 6-0 over Dylan Dennis. Brother
Hudson Bonetti also won easily at second singles, defeating Kyle Lee 6-1, 6-2 for the 2-0 advantage.
Hugh Weldon made easy work of Asher Cohen at third singles 6-2, 6-2 and the first doubles team of
Connor Pertusi and
Chase Eagan took a 7-5, 6-3 advantage for the 4-1 win.
The team now travels to Basking Ridge to take on a tough Pingry squad in the semifinal. The team lost to Pingry earlier this year at the Bryan Bennett Tournament 3.5-1.5. The winner takes on the winner of Newark Academy and Bergen Catholic.
