Delbarton built an early cushion and held on late to earn a hard-fought 10–8 win over Haverford (PA) on Saturday, improving to 2-0 on the season.
The Green Wave came out sharp, scoring four times in the opening quarter to take control early. After extending the lead to 5–3 at halftime, Delbarton appeared poised to pull away with a three-goal third quarter. But Haverford responded with five goals of its own in the period, cutting into the margin and setting up a tense fourth.
That's when Delbarton settled back in.
The defense tightened, holding Haverford scoreless over the final 12 minutes, while the offense added two key insurance goals to secure the victory.
Chase Houser led the way with a dominant performance, finishing with five goals. Brandon Fodor added four points on two goals and two assists, while Matthew Good, Pierce Bolger and Max Melchionni each found the back of the net.
At the faceoff X, Kane Quenault battled throughout the afternoon, winning eight draws, while Jesse DeNegri went 3-for-4 to help Delbarton maintain key possessions down the stretch.
In goal, Matty McGinty made seven saves, including several timely stops in the fourth quarter as the Green Wave closed out the win.
Delbarton returns home for a huge test once again, hosting the #3 ranked team in the nation on Wednesday.
