Whenever Delbarton and Mendham meet, it's a guarantee to be a close game and rowdy atmosphere! Wednesday was no different, with Delbarton coming out victorious in double overtime 50-46.
Mendham opened with a 12-11 lead in the first quarter. Delbarton battled back, outscoring Mendham 10-5 in the quarter, going to the halftime break with a 21-17 lead. The Green Wave would add to that lead in the third quarter, leading Mendham 30-25. Mendham would not back down, outscoring the Green Wave 13-8 in the fourth quarter, sending the game to overtime on a three-pointer at the end of the fourth quarter.
After another 5-5 overtime score, the teams played a second overtime period, where the Green Wave took charge, winning the game 50-46 in Mendham.
Lincoln Zimmermann led the way for Delbarton off the bench, scoring 14 points along with 3 rebounds.
Julian Radossich had 8 points and 10 rebounds, while
Mike Vaccaro had 11 points and 8 rebounds in the win. Michael Van Raaphorst had 4 points and 8 rebounds with 2 blocks and
Nick Modugno had 4 points and 2 blocks for the 6-1 Green Wave.
Delbarton now turns its attention to West Morris on January 10. Tip off is set for 7pm from Abbot Clarke Gym.
