New Head Coach Matt Crane and the varsity basketball team opened the season with a big 78-58 road victory on Thursday night, defeating Hanover Park in East Hanover.

The Green Wave built a big first quarter lead, scoring 21 points in the opening period for a 21-11 advantage.  By halftime, the Green Wave had pulled far ahead of the Hornets, leading 40-22, and never looked back.  Leading all scorers was senior Michael Van Raaphorst with 17 points and 6 rebounds.  Lincoln Zimmermann and Patrick Mahoney had big games as well, each scoring 14 points in the win, with Mahoney adding 6 rebounds and 4 steals.  Will McGinty had 11 points and 4 assists at the point for Coach Crane, who got scoring from almost his entire team on Thursday.  Anthony Palumbo, Lucas Cardinale and Andrew Chobor all had big nights for Delbarton as well.

Delbarton travels to Watchung on Saturday to face Hillsborogh at Watchung Hills High School.  Tip off is set for noon.  Congrats to Coach Crane on your first of many varsity wins!
