After going 16 years without a county championship, the Green Wave have now won back-to-back county titles, this year, defeating Madison 58-36 on Saturday, February 19 at County College of Morris.  Delbarton jumped out to a big lead and never looked back, winning the title by 22 points over Madison.

Delbarton opened the game with a 17-3 first quarter.  Mike Vaccaro hit a pair of threes in the first, helping Delbarton open a 14-point lead.  The second quarter was similar to the first, with Delbarton outscoring Madison 17-5 for a big 34-8 halftime lead.  Off the bench, Lincoln Zimmermann led all scorers at the half with 9 points. Madison chipped into the lead in the third, outscoring Delbarton 17-12, but the Green Wave continued to push both offensively and locked down defensively, finishing the game with a 12-11 fourth quarter and a 22-point championship victory.

Nick Modugno and Mike VanRaaphorst led the Green Wave with 13 points each.  VanRaaphosrt also had 5 rebounds and 4 assists, while Modugno had 4 rebounds with his 13 points.  Zimmermann finished the game with 10 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists, earning tournament MVP honors as well.  VanRaaphorst and Modugno also earned all-tournament honors.  Julian Radossich and Grant Dangler had big contributions on Saturday as well, each scoring 6 points, while Mike Vaccaro had 8 points 6 rebounds and 4 assists.

Delbarton now begins preparation for the NJSIAA Non Public A tournament.  The #2 seed Green Wave earned a first-round bye and will host the winner of MKA and St. Joe's Montvale on Friday, February 24.  Congrats to Coach Whalen, his staff and the team on its repeat as county champions!
