Delbarton came up just short in a tightly contested home matchup on January 13, falling 64–63 to Montville in a game that was decided in the final seconds.
The teams were even through the opening quarter, tied 15–15, before Montville gained momentum in the second, outscoring Delbarton 22–12 to take a 37–27 lead into halftime. The Green Wave responded with a strong third quarter, closing the gap by winning the quarter 18–10 and cutting the deficit to just two points entering the final period.
Delbarton continued its push in the fourth quarter, matching Montville point for point down the stretch. Nick Treue tied the score on a huge three pointer, but Montville was able to convert on an inbound pass under the basket for a one-point lead. After a time out from Coach Crane, Delbarton's final shot attempt, a three-pointer by Stephen Kmetz, fell short and Delbarton would lose its second straight game.
Austin Kolakowski led the offense with 17 points, knocking down three three-pointers and adding two assists. Stephen Kmetz and Gunther Neumann each scored 12 points, with Neumann also pulling down a team-high seven rebounds while going a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
Nick Treue added 11 points on three three-pointers, while Marty Hindelong filled the stat sheet with nine points, five rebounds, four assists, and four blocks in a strong all-around performance.
